It was Christ’s eager desire:

To enjoy one last moment of fellowship with His friends

To celebrate the Passover meal

To have the symbolism of the Passover be fulfilled in Him

To fulfill all of Scripture

To inaugurate the New Covenant

To institute the new sacrament of the Lord’s Supper

To provide spiritual nourishment for His people

To give us a foretaste of the era of full redemption in the New Heavens and New Earth

To complete the work that the Father had given Him to do

To be glorified–and to glorify His Father

To return to His Father

To save the thief on the cross

To save you!
